The ornithologic Club “Acvila” was initiated 16 years ago (in 1992) and its aim was to approach didactic and complementary issues, to create dynamic educational standards in order to study and protect nature, birds particularly.

The techniques and strategies (exploration, investigation, independent watching, individual study as well as group-study, data gathering, synthetization and organization, debates and presentations) have the purpose to know the devices of scientific knowledge.

The members were provided with information which helped them to understand the wildlife in its complexity, the relationships within the biosphere, the necessity to protect the environment in order to stop extiction of species.

Our activity is based on informative and formative levels. We organized study classes, individual study, meetings with specialists in ornithology, debates on protecting the environment, contests, photography exhibitions (Grupul Milvus, S.O.R., C.F.M.C.B., Focus Eco Center, www.greenweek2004.eun.org, www.greenweek2005.eun.org, www.greenweek2006.eun.org), picture contests, photography contests: “Nature 2002”, “Children and Nature”, “The most beautiful artificial Christmas tree”. We organize study excursions to watch the ecosystem, the habitats, bird watching, monitorize their nests, make nourishing places for the winter time, we take care of plants and clean the surroundings. We also study encyclopedias, speciality books and periodicals concerning the environment and investigation works about the living world. Practical activities make the children understand the mechanisms of the ecosystem and the equilibrium in nature.

We cooperate with the environmental organizations Grupul Milvus, S.O.R., C.F.M.C.B., Focus Eco Center, The Agency for Protection of Environment, The Environment Guard.

In 2006, our club has developed, co-opting children educated by their teachers to be more responsible in the protection of the environment. More than 50 teachers cooperate in the effort. There are five sections: “Carnivores”, “Arctos”, “Nu-ma-uita”, “Ciconia”, “Insects”, in our school. Other groups of children joined us: “The friends of nature” Kindergarten Nr. 19, “Ghiocelul” (Snowdrops) Kindergarten Nr. 7, Kindergarten Nr. 3 Tg.Mures, Kindergarten Nr. 3 Reghin, Kindergarten “The little Ecologists” Toplita, Kindergarten cu P.N. Nr. 10, Resita, jud. Caras Severin, kindengartens in Iasi, judetul Iasi. Our organization has over 1000 members. Its aim is to understand the mechanisms of the living world in its complexity.
